Join Me On My Path To Enlightenment
Monday, June 1, 2015
Today I was thinking, where will I be when I become Enlightened. Buddha's place of Enlightenment was the Mahabodhi Temple in India (“Bodh Gaya"). He sat under a Bodhi tree for seven days without moving ("Mahabodhi Temple")! I know for a fact that my Enlightenment won't happen this way, because I cannot sit still, although I hope it will be one story to tell.

I looked a bit deeper into meditation and there are various types. Loving-kindness was the one I specifically read about. This meditation series keeps the mind open and sweet (Pannyavaro). I'm recommending this meditation to my brothers. They are identical twins, and in sixth grade; one word, handful!
I have been researching more and more about Buddhism. Today I came across meditation. I'm not a big reader so I skimmed, but I got a lot of valuable information. Meditation eases your mind and enables you to connect with your fundamental goodness (Rinpoche). Hopefully this works...even though the end of the year is approaching this means finals are too and I need to study.
I challenge YOU to join me and mediate before finals. Comment if it works!

He is the man behind the magic....BUDDHA! Since most of you don't know how amazing the Buddha is, I will gracefully tell you. Buddha was born into a rich family. Living this wealthy lifestyle he figured out that money doesn't equal happiness (White). I think that this is really important in our era because money, for many people, is starting to consume their lives. Buddha then traveled the world teaching people his practices and creating Buddhism.
Since most of you probably don't know me, here is a little insight on me and why I became inspired to try out this new lifestyle.
If I heard of this buddha blog before I understood Buddhism I would think of wise elderly man that spoke slow but used gargantuan words (see what I did there). Get this out of your head for a second. Think teenager that is not sure of what she wants to do with her life and is being suffocated by the crazy amount of homework, but she still procrastinates. Now think of this teenager making a blog about Buddhism...crazy right? I would have thought so too, but it may not be as crazy as it sounds.
My inspiration came to me in English. We were asked to start a project that stems from our reading book. I was reading Looking For Alaska by John Green (I highly recommend this book). I finished the book and still nothing had really popped out at me that I could do this project on. I flipped through the pages for what it seemed like the hundredth time, looking for something that was at least partly interesting. I mean I didn't want to bore myself to death but I needed something! I skimmed the text of a page and I saw Buddhism. I thought that it could be a "last resort" if I couldn't find anything better. So I hopped onto my computer to see if it was a valid competitor. I somehow got engaged in this article that talked about karma, wisdom, happiness, truth and more. From that, I decided to do my project on Buddhism.
